Stuart is the owner & sommelier of Fix Wine Bar + Restaurant. Opened in 2006, it epitomises all the things we love about great food & yummy interesting wines.
Stuart’s vision for Fix is to be relaxed & interesting, bringing a casual approach to quality dining, where guests keep coming back.
Stuart’s passion for good wine has seen him promoting some very interesting often unusual wines – be it an “orange” wine, natural, sustainable or biodynamic wines. All these have a place on his winelist.
His mantra is one of enjoying the wine first. Trying something you wouldn’t always go for, then discovering how its made.
During his 20+ years in the wine trade, Stuart has been named the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide Sommelier of the Year 2012, and accepted to become a Len Evans Scholar.
Since 2020, Stuart has also reviewed over 5000 wines for The Real Review.
Over the past 10 years Stuart has been invited to judge a number of well-known Australian wine shows. Including the Sydney Royal Wine Show, the Hunter Valley Wine Show, the McLaren Vale Wine Show and the NSW Wine Awards.
You’ll find Stuart working the floor most days, ready to point you in the direction of some obscure winery or variety, and always happy to drink it too – just in case it wasn’t to your taste!
