• Wine School 101 April 2021

There are not many cities in the world that can boast close proximity to a world class wine region, let alone 3.

Melbourne is certainly sitting pretty with the Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula and Geelong all within 90 minutes by car. No wonder we call it the Melbourne Dress Circle.

With these regions on their doorstep, no wonder our southern cousins are so keen on the grape. So for this wine school Stu is going to show you what all the fuss is about. Looking at the classics and up and coming wines from these three regions.

  • WINE SCHOOL 101 MARCH’21

Skin contact wine or amber wines get a large share of interest, for such a small group of wines.

Amber wines are white wines made with extended skin contact in a similar way to the way we make red wines.

This extended time on skins can run for a day, all the way up to a year depending on the producer.

Stu is a big fan of these wines and always enjoys throwing something random into the mix.

Join us to try 6 of these unparalleled wines with snacks from the kitchen.

Tickets are $80 per head and include a taste of 6 wines, accompanied with bar snacks.

  • Fix Wine School 101 – July

Stuart’s monthly wine school is on again. This month it’s live and in-person at Fix Wine Bar.

We are capping the entire event at 20 people to comply with our size restrictions, but this is the perfect number for a fun and engaging event.

This month Stuart will be talking about South American Wines.

With international travel off the agenda for now we’ve decided to take a vinous adventure across the waters. South America is a huge producer of wines on the global market, but we don’t see too much here in Australia. We will be concentrated on Argentina and Chile, just scratching the surface of what they can do.

Tickets are $60 per head and include a taste of 5-6 wines, accompanied with bar snacks such as cheese and salumi boards.

Places are limited, so get in quick!

Wine School 101 is a great opportunity to taste some interesting wines, that Stuart has come across.

This month is a little different – Stuart is going online and running the session over Zoom. And with restrictions slightly lifted from May, this is the perfect way to share some great wines with a great friend.

For May we’ll take a look at a comparison of Europe and Australia, with a local white and red battling against their formidable opponents from France and Italy. Because its over Zoom and everyone is welcome to join in, even if they don’t have the pack.

Of course it’ll be just like our normal Wine School, basically I’ll talk too much and not take it too seriously. But, like always, you just might learn something.

The wine tasting pack is available now in the Wine Store.  Included are the 4 bottles of wine you’ll be trying on the night, plus two beautiful Riedel O wine tumblers.
